Application for
use of Tissue from Tumour Bank
Stage 1:- Contact the Tumour
Tissue Bank via email
soms.tumourbank@uq.edu.au or surface mail (Tumour Tissue Bank,
Bldg 1, 4BC 40.0, P. A. Hospital, Ipswich Rd, Woolloongabba, Qld, 4102,
Australia), or fax (07 3240 5390) detailing the type of specimens you require.
Stage 2:-You
will receive a reply from the Tumour Tissue Bank detailing the availability of
the tissue which matches your requirements.
Stage 3:-
Read the
Conditions
of Use of Tumour Bank Samples and complete the
P.A.
Hospital Tumour
Tissue Bank Application Form
ensuring you include proof of Ethics
Committee approval, if applicable.
Stage 4:-
Your application will be reviewed. In particular, the application will be
assessed for its perceived value in relation to the demands placed upon the
Tumour Tissue Bank. Additionally, as the specimens have taken several years to
collect, the Tumour Tissue Bank will be concerned about maximum utilisation of
the specimens. You will be notified in writing whether your application has
been successful.
Stage 5:-
Once your application has been approved and you have demonstrated a source of
project funding, you will be requested to sign an agreement for the use of
Tumour Tissue Bank samples (see Agreement & Acknowledgement Form). . Once the
signed agreement has been received, an arrangement will be made to transport
the specimens to you at your own expense. There will be charges associated
with the provision of tumour specimens that are necessary to fund ongoing
maintenance of the Tumour Tissue Bank.
If you are
applying for funding from a large, peer-reviewed granting body you are advised
to contact the Tumour Tissue Bank well in advance of the final date for grant
applications, and are encouraged to include in the budget an amount for
provision of tumour samples. This is a legitimate budgetary expense in
research grant applications. Applications for Tumour Tissue Bank samples will
be considered if funding is pending.
Applications for Tumour Tissue Bank specimens will be reviewed as received.
Applications for use of Tumour Tissue Bank specimens will not be considered
unless a completed application form has been received with the required
documentation.
